Effect of lung denervation on pulmonary hypertension and edema.

چکیده
Under conditions of high pulmonary artery pressure and flow produced in dogs by a controlled systemic artery shunt, pulmonary edema occurred after denervation of the lung at arterial pressures that were tolerated without edema before denervation. Left atrial pressures were not altered by the shunt, which involved only one segment of lung. Observation of animals with shunts for \],i to 10 months showed that denervation apparently did not affect the incidence of arteriosclerosis.

Statins and Pulmonary Hypertension in Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease
Chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) is a chronic multisystem disease with a considerable burden. One of its most common complications is pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH). It has been demonstrated that the development of PAH is correlated with decreased quality of life and survival. Different medications have been proposed for the treatment of PAH, among which one can name statins. Howeve...
متن کاملThe Flare Up of Catastrophic Antiphospholipid Syndrome: a Report of an Immunosuppressive Withdrawal-Induced Case
Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a systemic disease that causes venous and arterial thrombosis in virtually any organ. Sometimes it is complicated into pulmonary infarction and cavitation, pulmonary hypertension, and catastrophic course with high morbidity and mortality. The present case is a 35-year-old woman with one episode of postpartum deep veins throm-bosis (DVT) 12 years earlier and th...
متن کاملMathematical Modelling of Pulmonary Edema
The excess accumulation of water in lung interstitial or alveolar is called pulmonary edema which is caused by factors that upset the normal Starling balance in micro-circulation. Pulmonary edema disturbs the alveolar gas exchanges which are normally regulated by the respiratory system. Mathematical modelling of pulmonary edema may help to predict the lung conditions and the mechanisms involved...
